Patti graduated Magna Cum Laude from The John Marshall Law School in 1998.  While at John Marshall, she was on The John Marshall Law Review, served as the Lead Articles Editor on the Law Review Board, and participated in Moot Court competitions, while working full time and attending John Marshall in the evenings.  In addition, while at John Marshall, she won the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Property and the West Corpus Juris Secundum Awards in Contracts and Property.

Upon the completion of Law School, Patti practiced with a telecommunications boutique firm.  During that time, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, opening satellite offices and representing telecommunication companies with land use and zoning petitions, leasing, and community relations. Patti then practiced in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, and civil litigation.

In 2004, Patti joined the Dommermuth firm, where she is now a  name partner. Patti’s practice initially focused on representing residential and commercial developers with annexation, land use and zoning petitions.  She has been involved in a number of multi-use commercial and residential developments, involving large assemblages of land in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties.  Over the last ten years her practice has evolved to include residential and commercial real estate transactions, estate planning and probating estates, business law, and civil litigation in Cook, Kane, Kendall, DuPage and Will Counties.

Patti and her husband, Dave, live in Mokena.  Dave is a retired mathematics teacher who now supervises student teachers for Lewis and St. Francis Universities and is a sportscaster for the Big East Network, DePaul University, and the Illinois High School Association.  Dave and Patti have two children, Dave, Jr., and Carri Schmitt.  Dave and his wife, Keri, have three beautiful daughters, MacKenzie, Kelsey, and Karly.  Carri and her husband, Eric, have two wonderful children, Maddie and Owen.  While their grandchildren keep them very busy with sports and music performances, Patti and Dave are also actively involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois, granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  Patti also serves on the board of Literacy DuPage, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower adults through increased literacy skills.
